Our
WCDA are working in partnership with: local residents and the Partnership Group, which includes; Community Groups, Charities, Local Business’, Faith Groups, Reading Borough Council, Local Primary & Secondary Schools; and the University of Reading.
Together they aim to ensure the needs of everyone living and working in Whitley are met by:
- Providing a Community Cafe that is accessible to all, offering a safe place to meet with friends, a meeting space for organisations and the opportunity to engage in a number of activities and events identified by local people, as well as offering coffee/tea lunches and cakes, at affordable prices.
- Carrying out Research programmes (for example Transport/Financial Exclusion/Mental Health) within the area to ensure needs are better met in the future.
- Opening opportunities for children and young people to get involved with a number activities/events that they may not engage in otherwise.
- Working with local people and partners to create community activities, building confidence, encouraging new friendships, opening opportunities for volunteering and offering training courses to learn new skills, build self-confidence and aspirations for the future!
