Hear Trisha Bennett discuss the unprecedented high demand we are experiencing on Radio Berkshire. Can you help?

Trisha Bennett on Radio Berkshire

Our food surplus project has been at the core of what we do for sometime now. Ever before the COVID pandemic we were seeing an increase in the number of people who use the service and now its reached unprecedented levels.

The cost of living crisis is hitting us all hard. What we are seeing is people who are in work, often with more than one job, needing to use our service to top up or supplement their food. It can be a difficult step for some to take as they are proud and have never needed help before, however, what with inflation and low income wages not increasing, its becoming harder and harder to manage finances. In addition to this more and more people are approaching us who need finance/debt advice.

We are only a small community based organisation and there is only so much we can do. We do call on the government to act faster to offer more support to people experiencing food poverty. However, we know that in the meantime we need to act and we need to help these people. And we would really appreciate support from the local business community.

Are you a local business that could help support our work? If so please get in touch.

If you would like to help or can donate food or time please click here
If you need financial support then we recommend you reach out to one of our partners like Communicare.

If you need to pop by our Food Surplus, we are open Monday – Friday 10am – 1pm.
