Geoffrey Field Infant School are looking for enthusiastic people to join their Governing
Body. Although it is helpful to have previous governance experience, a commitment to doing the best for young people starting their education journey is essential.

Being a governor is a demanding but highly rewarding role. You will need to enjoy teamwork, be a keen learner and be able to support and challenge the headteacher. Governing Body meetings are held at different times during the day. Individual governors are also expected to meet in the school or virtually to undertake specific monitoring activities in linked areas. As a guide a governor would spend about 40 hours a year preparing for and attending meetings then undertaking actions and reporting back in meeting. Training and support are provided in all aspects of being a governor. If you are interested,
Stage 1: you will speak to Zoe Glancy (Chair of Governors) and Zoe Dean (Headteacher)
Stage 2: you will be invited to observe a meeting and meet the other governors
Stage 3: if you wish to continue the process the Governing Board will consider your appointment at the next meeting, there will be paperwork for you to complete and you will be required to apply for a DBS certificate.
Note: All governors, in whatever kind of school, maintained, independent, academy or freeschool, must have an Enhanced DBS Certificate. The school facilitates that with you.
